  1. who could possibly disagree with all these posts… and like the majority gave up listening when noticing the continual distortion of what the SNP admin were at…. now… it is by accident only if I hit any bbc radio channel… time to go as your sell by date has long expired

  2. Finally – a realistic critique of GMS! I listen from some sort of middle-aged memory of the good-ol’ Beeb. All I want is presenters who can pronounce words properly, ask real questions and put a Scottish perspective on world news. I’m so disappointed and fed up texting 80295 to point out their errors. Is it too much to ask?

    • I also remember the time when quality journalism was expected on BBC Scotland. Now they employ a ragbag of incompetents and semi-literates. Pacific Quay doesn’t reflect Scotland. Its coverage is tokenistic. It was set up to compete with Radio Clyde and that’s how it has remained sans intelligent presenters. Bring on the scrapping of the licence for now the bad exceeds the good.

      • To be fair, I have found the recent weekend editions of GMS or Crossfire (aside from the ridiculous theme music in the latter) to be much more ‘Radio 4-ish’ in the positive sense of considered comment and excellent presentation. Those who know how this works may be able to say whether this is simply a function of the two excellent presenters – Bill Whiteford & Isabel Fraser – or some other magic formula. Why can this not work Mon-Fri?

  3. You missed out the SNP bad, SNP accused…Jimmy boy brave rubbish. But then I’m only going by what others report as I gave up listening to BBC radio many years ago. The inanities of a guy called Fred and his sidekicks parted my family and the radio for good. Now much the same is happening with the TV. Our viewing recently has been old episodes of Wallander and the occasional film. Channel 4 news is still our daily news programme, though watched now with less avidity and more scepticism than previously.

    • Radio Scotland is a joke, except when it tries to do comedy. I only listen to it occasionally because my blood pressure can’t handle too much of it. Only then the news. Don’t really know what else they do other than Off the Ball.

Gave up Fred Mac whatever his name is after his snide attacks on Jeffrey Archer, years ago, and then was as nice as ninepence to him when he was on the show. It’s drivel. Must be cheap

Don’t watch much TV. Never BBC 1. Do like Wallander, original and yes, occasional film and University Challenge is a must.

Radio would be more my preference any day but BBC Scotland is awful. Truly awful. I expect it to disappear up its own backdoor some day soon.

As usual thanks for stopping by.
